The TSC ad IMO is misleading, neither coin has been graded MS66 or MS67 by CCCS. They have been graded UNC66 and UNC67, a designation reserved for coins removed from sets only. Seems the TSC ad is deliberately trying to mislead the unwary into believing that these are business strike coins.

Bromburg called it a planchet error, noting a copper plated zinc planchet was somehow substituted for the steel blank, in MS 66 or 67. Came down in price from the $20,000 noted earlier.

Now you know which dealer has oddles of these pennies, it's a planchet error and no more, depending on how many are being offered now maybe 500.00 is not to far away.

there is one in the geffory Bell auction in 2014 fall. it is not a planchet error but merely a zinc planchet making its way into the steel p die.

That's what a planchet error means. The wrong planchet got used.

A variety is an intentionally released variation.

I'm starting to wonder if that MS67 that sold for $20,000 was a real auction with a real buyer. Can be had for ~ $2000 now...

with these 2005p non magnetic cents being removed from the sets to be sent for grading could it be possible that a set that has not been opened be more valuable as they are becoming more rare with each new penny found and removed?

TCNC auctioned the first coin for over 20,000 and the under bidder ask them to find him or her a example and they were apparently offered many examples in the next few days and sold one for the under bid price of around 19,000. Skip to next month auction another example I had to help bid to 2700.00 and that bidder I believe walked away due to constant rumors of a dealer with a wack of these coins, of course now we know who has them. These coins are not rare graded or left in sets, if you have one get it graded and sell it quick the more found the cheaper the price.
