1836 Capped Bust Quarter - Great Deal Or Scam?

Is that a die break or a scratch running through the shield on the reverse? Agree that the photos are really off, I doubt that it will look anything like that and that the photo editing could be hiding harsh cleaning.

Still could be worth it, $129 doesn't buy very much of a Capped Bust quarter these days and this one has the potential to be nice .... but its not a risk I would personally take.

All right, the coin came today and I have new pictures:



It has obviously been cleaned at some point and there is some colorful retoning going on, but it really doesn't look too bad and the details are nice, which is all I really care about for my 7070 album. I can't tell whether all the lines are scratches or die breaks, to be honest. None of them are visible to the naked eye (at least not to my naked eye), but they certainly do stand out in the macro photographs, don't they?

As to grade, I'm gonna go with VF30 details on this. Even if the old cleaning knocks the value down a notch or two, I still think I made out pretty well for $129.99. Unless somebody sees something that I don't that would raise further red flags, I think I'll definitely be keeping it.

I like it. The other one looks to be a grade or two higher then yours. I like yours better even, that large scratch on the reverse is pretty distracting.
