In 1993, I bought this ASE for $1 at a 7-11. The cashier seemed to be very happy to get rid of it! Quote: jbuck: At least it was not an 8-track My musclecar still has its original, working 8-track unit. And I have every 8-track tape Kiss issued from 1974 to 1980. "Detroit Rock City"

I worked for a guy that built and owned self service car washs in the mid-west. I have found many world coins, maybe 10 silver quarters and even Silver dimes. Some in the coin vaults, some in the pitts when we cleaned those. Even found a SLQ sitting on top of the control box, it rejected it cause it was silver. I didnt reject it, LOL I kept it.

My sister married a French man and they move to Lille, France. Temporary they live with my brother in law's parents in an old house that their grand father's design and build. Their house is neat, but they kept everything like "pack rat". I came to visit, one day I notice there are used stamps and older coins in every drawers. I asked if I could keep some, and she said I can have them all. I made her a deal, I will organize them for her. Boy, I made an unforgettable deal, I got lots used stamps and coins before WWII mainly from France and Belgium (Lille is not too far from Belgium). I spend two or three days to go over the drawers and cabinets.

When I was 12 (14 years ago) I bought an old cash register from a garage sale for $25.00. It appeared to be empty but when I was carrying it in my room I could hear change. The drawer was fixed but there was a gap where money fell in. I found at least of a couple of bucks in old change. I dont know if it was anything significant but if it was a Wheat penny or silver then I still have it somewhere. When I was 7 I found 5 coins in a large conch shell that I had. It's very possible that I hid them there for safe keeping but I dont have any recollection of that. One was a silver Washington quarter. I still have it.

waaay back in the mid 80s, me and my family lived in a house, and we had a small garden where we grew veggies, potatoes and sush. While my dad was digging up the potatoes, my task was to sort out the smaller ones that got loose from the actual plant. While doing that, I found a Danish 1/2 skilling from 1771 in the dirt...very cool and I still have it.

Not really a strange place as probably more common but an awesome coin!
Walking out of my local newstore, I saw a beat up cent on the pavement near my car. I picked it up and put it in my pocket. It looked like it had been run over a few times in it's life!
When I got home I noticed that the date looked kinda strange also, so I put it under the 5X Mag and much to my surprise, it ended up being the 1980P 1-DO-001 Doubled Die Cent!

Hoo boy, the stories I tell from my cash register. Being paid all in silver certs, having someone hand me a Buffalo nickel and go "I dunno if this is actually money . . . ", the world coins I get handed that are mistaken for quarters/pennies/nickels coming from such unlikely places as South Africa and Japan, the Mercury dime I found in my coin changer . . . I'd have to say my recent thirteen bucks in proofs and satins tops the list, though. For a long, LONG time.

After starting this thread, I'm adding again, while coin roll hunting in Canadian pennies, pulled not one but two of these beauties.. I know they are not worth more than $5 each (so I've been told), but I don't have ANY coins 70 years old that look this good..

3 cent Nickel from 1881 in a roll of dimes. I had just started hunting silver in bank boxes and had no knowledge of coins. I was shocked to find it and as a result got hooked on coin.
