Lovely coins all !
A very nice drachm indeed Warren, really like the stylized horse on Doug's jital also (if I did not collect Greek coins, I would be into Celtic... some impressive works of art there !).

Those are both nice death commemoratives. It will be interesting to see which draws the popular vote.

Nice coins, Kurt. I am trying to collect good specimens of all of the Constantine posthumous issues. That first one is amazing, very nice.

Quote: That first one is amazing, very nice. It has two characteristics that I consider very unusual and am wondering if anyone else will comment upon. These are not the easiest coins to find with clear horses on flan, clear hand of God and complete obverse legends. I'm usually picky about being able to see the hand and the DV, PT and AVGG but the first has very unusual head drapery and the chariot wheel really is not under the driver. My Antioch coin is 'normal' so this one drives me to start looking to see how unusual it is. The fact that each die and each diecutter could be different is a lot of the appeal I find in ancient coins as opposed to the machine made regularity of the ones we spend today.

The more I look at it, the more I like Kurt's first coin. It is beautifully struck and that portrait...just darn. It's like you can count every hair and the drapery really looks folded. Very nice work from the engraver on this one, I like to think it was his own homage to the fallen emperor. Most of the portraits I have seen from these ones are much simpler in comparison. Kurt, if you ever want to sell that coin - I'm your guy.

Wow => so far, there are "15" contestants and "26" coins in SMACKDOWN #10 ... => I'm pretty sure that's a new SMACKDOWN record (surpassing "13" contestants and "25" coins from SMACKDOWN #3, Coins that Fly) ... That's the spirit!

Jerry, Smackdown #5 (The Severans) had 26 coins and 15 contestants as well. So, to set a record, this one will have to come up with at least one more coin/contestant.

Hmmm, that's interesting, Bing ... => well then, hopefully we'll see some entries from some of the missing big leaguers: SAP, sel, bobbyhelmet, MartiVltori, Doucet, Masis and/or echizento? ... hey, but there's no pressure, fellas ...

Coin #1 Here is a fish-tailed horse or Greek: ἱππόκαμπος, from ἵππος, "horse" and κάμπος, "monster". Gallienus sole reign, Rome, AE20 Antoninianus. Rome mint. GALLIENVS AVG, radiate head right / NEPTVNO CONS AVG, hippocamp springing right. Coin#2 I'm not sure what the attribution of this well worn coin is. Hopefully someone will recognize it. You can still see the quadriga of horses though. 3.4g, 17mm
