I think the coins in this Smackdown are the best yet..... ...I would have to sell one of my kids to get some these coins...

I think they have been extended in the last couple of Smackdowns. I think three days is best, then vote.

I think its fine... When I did mine it last 2 days and voting a day. Looking back I would have made it 3 days with 2 day voting. Its yours so you choose the terms.

Hi Batman ... (how is your weekend treatin' ya?) ... ours is good (sweaty lawn mowing, followed by cold beer intake) ... repeat, until all of the neighborhood lawns are lookin' good!! Hey, I ran the first three SMACKDOWNS and I only alotted "1" day (24 hours) for coin submission and "1" day for voting ... however, the coin-gang kinda turned ugly on me and recommended a longer coin submission period ... however, I think that we are currently giving a bit too much grace on the ol' submission-side, no? (4-5 days, really?) ... a) you have already set the time period for this current SMACKDOWN, so we should follow your rules (we don't want anarchy!!) b) I suggest that we use a "2" day (48 hour) submission period in future SMACKDOWNs, followed by the usual "1" day (24 hour) voting period ... NOTE => I believe that the extension was intended to promote interaction from the "outside world", but alas, this has never seemed to become a reality ........... "yet"

Since there has not been any other coins submitted for almost 24 hours, I think whe could safely start the voting now and give it until tomorrow, say 8 pm eastern time

Tough choice as always, but: Gold - Biancasdad's absurdly awesome Constantine posthumous Silver - Dionysos' Tetradrachm for the quality and attention to detail in the portraits, especially the horse heads Bronze - Stevex6's denarius because it never occurred to me that back-stabbing wasn't always frowned upon. Great coins all, and grats to whoever wins!

I agree, Steve should host the next to lay out solid rules and to try and bring in some big contenders from other boards. I think it would be good to make it a bigger competition and to try and advertise an 'any coin that fits the bill' policy so more beginners like me can be roped in, even if all we post is cruddy coins. Or a junior smackdown for beginners, who knows.
My votes:
BRONZE - Dionysis' top coin - Almost shows the emotion of the horse - another artist that has observed horses before he carved away! SILVER - Jwharpers second coin - A horse that the artist has clearly spent a long time on, he has definitely sat and observed horses for a long time and was an accomplished artist, pity his name will most likely never be known. GOLD - dougsmit's Second coin - Abstract horse - I like the abstract shapes that disguise it within the coin but so obviously show a horse shape. A worthy gold if ever I saw one.
