Currency Grading (Confused) - Coin Community Forum

starbuxinvestor Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 616 Posts	Posted 08/19/2012 08:41 am My understanding simple as it maybe is the number is the grade. So why do I see one 64 called "Choice Uncirculated" and another 64 called "Very Choice New"? Is that just the difference in description between CGA and PCGS? Should I just look at the number or is paper quality also very significant? I assume so since it is on the holder. Can anyone help clarify this for me? Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

In a perfect world a 64 would be a 64 no matter which company does the grading but this isn't always the case. I personally have never purchased a graded note that wasn't from either PCGS or PMG. There are some bogus companies out there also that just slab a note and put whatever grade you want on it. Stick to the major companies and you shouldn't have a problem. Report this Post to the Staff
