And the only reason I like this one is because as far as I know, the US hasn't put a submarine on any of its notes yet.

Look at the Series 681 fractional Military Payment Certificates. They carry the image of the USS Thomas A. Edison off the coast of Scotland.

(My apologies to the OP for the diversion.)

I broke down in a coin shop today and bought an ungraded note (my first).

Like I said in the other post, that's a very nice looking 1934-D $ 5.00 SC and looks like it would be a worthy addition to most any collection.

And there's really no reason to have it graded. Hope you Enjoy it, and spend the money you saved on grading to buy other notes.

And like Nickelman said, hope it's the beginning of many more nice notes for your collection.

Nickelman,
I know what you mean, if I won the lottery I would just buy what I wanted and be done with it, but then I'm not sure what I would do the rest of my life .

I know some of the fun in collecting is finding the "bargains", its always nice to find an item worth
$ 1000.00 for $ 100.00 but it doesn't happen enough at my age so I just buy what I can when I can.

You say that you don't mind paying top dollar for notes because you sell off your "bargains" from time to time.

Please let me know where and when you sell them, I'm always looking for decent notes for my collection and don't mind paying fair prices for them.
