A reminder for non-ancient collectors. You don't have to collect ancients or know anything about them to play. All participation is welcome

You might consider setting up the contest in the Contest, Quiz, & Giveaway board to get more attention. Set up a post here as well that has a link to the contest thread.

It would probably get moved there anyway.

Actually I will change the rule about final price. Shipping won't be included, since many orders have more than one coin, and final price will be complicated by having to divide the shipping among coins.

I already do that for my records. If I but 3 coins from a single dealer and am charged say $6 for shipping, my records would reflect $2 shipping charge per coin.

Yah, I do that as well ... for insurance reasons, I want the "full-price" that it would cost me to replace my coins (you know, in case of a disaster, or a theft) ...

NOTE => Jango, if you don't agree with that strategy, then please take $5 off of my coin's "price" ...

thanks

I get what you guys mean. But I just feel that the coin price (minus shipping) is more official and less complicated. I only said what I said before because some people (myself included) consider "what we paid" is with the shipping under normal circumstances, but later I realized that things like multiple-item orders and with sometimes weird shipping costs (like $5.47 or something) that you have to divide just get in the way a bit with prices for guessing contests.

Update: I have 2 coins so far (three with whatever I pick). I need seven more so I can start this contest.

Hey ValiantKnight ...

I suggest that we change jbuck's scoring dramatically ... I suggest the following:

10 points for submitting a coin (this is due to the hassle of sending the photos and info, plus, the potential grief of being disected and judged)

10 points for closest to the price (either above, or below)

... now here is the catch ... because there "may" only be 10 or 20 of us casting guesses, I think that there should be a diminishing point-value one both sides of the correct answer ...

In other words, I think that the dude that is 2nd closest should only get 8 point, and then 6 points for the 3rd closest, followed by 4 points and then 2 points for the 5th closest ....... and everybody else merely gets 1 point for tossing-in a guess ...

Just an idea ...

If you need a second coin I can send another, but I'll wait to see if you get 7 more first, I'll be your second back up....

Hmmm I like the sound of your idea steve. But I'd like to make it so that it works for those closest on both sides, over and below the correct price. Like first two closest would get the 8 points, and since there will probably be max maybe 20 people like you said, nearly half of them would be getting runner-up points, so instead of going all the way to fifth closest, I'd just go up to four (ultimately 6 people will be getting runner-up points).

Winner: 10
2nd closest 2 guesses: 8
3rd closest 2 guesses: 6
4th closest 2 guesses: 4
Everyone else: 2
