I searched for the words in the subject line, but maybe I'm using the wrong terminology. I want to open a proof case like this one:
Is there a trick to popping these things open, or do I just have to rip it a little at a time around the perimeter with pliers? (That's how I opened the last one).
It's unlikely that it's permanently sealed; you should find a hairline around the circumference into which you can apply force with a fingernail or knife blade which will start opening it. If it's the round container I'm visualizing, it's almost certainly two pieces.
Some of those are harder then others to open for whatever reason. If you can get your nail or something in between the top and bottom and just run it around the hole circle it helps to break the seal and hopefully will just come right off
The good thing is that there is a lip on the air tites that will keep blade away from coin but still not to much pressure, more of a sawing motion in a small area will do it.
Thanks, guys! I found the seam on the outside edge and used a knife to gently pry all the way around and it popped right off. Wish I would have asked last time! I was sure that one half slid inside the other because I didn't detect the seam on the outside edge! Guess my peepers ain't what they used to be!
Lars some of those seems really do get tight, even feeling around it can sometimes be hard to tell which side its on at first while others seem to pop open on their own over time.
