I haven't been doing it long, but in the few months I've been sorting through boxes, I've hovered steady at around 20% copper, or roughly $5 out of $25 total, and they ALL have been shrink wrapped rolls. Seems hard to find CWR in my area, or a bank that will look for them. But because I've been seeing copper in that kind of numbers, I haven't pushed the issue with my banks.

May be a dumb question, but cent rolls come in $0.50 right? I've recently been interested in collecting old cents and copper cents, and I may go get my first few rolls from the bank tomorrow.

If I had to be afraid of asking a 'dumb question' every time that I needed to know an answer, I would have never asked hardly any questions in my life. The bottom line is to never be afraid of asking a 'dumb' question since more than likely multiple individuals are out there reading this thread having the same fear of asking the same or some other incorrectly-perceived-to-be 'dumb' question. The answer to one's 'dumb' question will most likely benefit any and all interested parties who were afraid to take the risk to ask the same question... And 'yes' each bank roll contains fifty (50) US or Canadian cents. One may find the following thread useful on this and similar subjects: http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=16255fyi, mdpmedia

colu41, you should definitely try it! its fun, easy, and really cheap! Get customer wrapped rolls (not machine rolled) and when the roll looks old or odd, get those! Worst case scenario you give them the coins back. Mark your rolls so you don't look through them again! Good luck!

There WAS a contract by Brinks to pull out copper cents. My understanding is that it was cancelled for various reasons. So there are boxes 100% zinc out there and boxes 100% copper out there. Naturally, about a 3 to 1 ratio means you'll most likely being getting zincs.

Quote: The government is culling all silver, copper and Nickel from circulation. I think I would just stop hunting, it is a waste of time and energy. You're joking, right? It would cost more money to replace these than they would make from culling.

I recently got my first skunk box from brinks. Hadn't done much CRHing for the past 5 months or so, went and got a brinks, and the thing was all zinc. I've done maybe 10 brinks boxes in the past year and that was the first skunk.
