I have some IKES that I'm going to put back in Circulation. Probably about 100 or so. Been through them and took out whatever errors and good ones to save for albums. A lot of them are Bi-Centenials.

I have to search into the possibility of having the banks order the Ikes for me. I don't see how to find silver dollars, or 40's Ikes otherwise.
FTB, were those dollar finds in $1,000 bags of Ikes?

Bernie, all the silver dollars I've found came from tellers.

Sweet, Fade! I have $310 in Ikes at one of my half box banks waiting for me! Can't wait to pick it up, if I ever get this car fixed! I called em yesterday to say I'd be delayed in picking up my boxes of halves, and I made sure to remind them I want those ikes!! it would be so awesome to find some silver ikes or morgans/peace !! By the way, if anyone wants to buy a few morgans, a friend is selling some, she needs cash. My car made sure I can't buy any more than 2 or 3. No key dates I don't think, but various grades, some very nice, unc... Let me know! I hope this is okay to ask on this forum.

A couple of the local banks save them for me. They get kicked out of their counting machine & the tellers have to buy they for their drawers. They are glad to unload them.

I have found a few loose ones at different banks and found one bank that had 94 loose ones a few weeks back. They were nothing special, but I put them up on ebay in a 100 coin lot. I think I got like $120 for them after all the fees. That was an easy 20% gain.

No silver in my $310 of Ikes.
Some nice keepers though.
Teller was shocked when I brought them in to cash in. Never saw so many.

Bernie: Are you saying you took the Eisenhowers to the bank and got face value cash for them?
I am not... repeat, NOT... a collector of coins in any way. But, I am looking to accumulate 1,000 Eisenhowers to put together a treasure for my grandkids. I'm creating an "adventure" for them where they have to figure out clues, decode secret messages and perform physical challenges, open specially-designed locks and the such. in the end, they will find the tresure box.
Trouble is... I can't find Eisenhowers anywhere without paying a 20-25% premium and, sometimes, plus shipping. It's put a damper on the whole thing. I want the Eisenhowers because they're big and heavy and the kids will find them fascinating. I don't care about the silver content, etc.
Any help... ideas... suggestions?

Where I am, the coin shops typically have buckets of circulation Ikes to pick through at 10 cents above face. Have you gone into a shop & asked?
I get Ikes in dribs & drabs by asking at banks â€" three here, five there. I suspect I could bring in as many as I wanted by putting an ad in the Thrifty Nickel, or on Craigslist, offering 110 cents each.
