I have one of the Scudo coins from the Republic of Lucca dated 1747. It's 43 mm across and weighs 26.8 grams(silver). Some text say this is supposed to be 34 grams. Is this a Scudo or ¾ scudo. Any idea of the value? I'm guessing about $200. I will be selling this coin shortly as I've been out of work for too long. The president's "hope and change" hasn't worked for me. All I have left is change. Thanks for comments.
Don

It is a scudo, KM# 53 (Dav.# 1373) Krause puts it at 26.52 grams, 91.6% silver.
As for the value, Krause lists it below $100 (unless it's XF). I, personally, would be happy to get such coin for $100.

It's a great coin. I think Krause wayyyyy undervalues coins of this type and era generally. It's one of those areas where auctions seem to bring in surprising results consistently if you are using Krause as your guide. Great for buying of dealers who do use it though.
