DavidUK Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2624 Posts	Posted 09/07/2012 12:01 pm I received a Red Book of United States Paper Money recently and started cataloguing my collection. I was whizzing along quite nicely until I came to a $100 1996 large head, green seal note with signature of Withrow and Rubin and now I am confused. On page 302 my note is pictured as F-2175 to F-2181 and following it a list of notes by issuing bank the trouble is on this design of note I cannot find where it is written which bank issued it. Normally the bank is written in words above the seal on the right and also in the black of the seal on the left but on this type it isn't there. The black seal on the left just says United States Federal Reserve System. How can I identify which bank issued my note? Report this Post to the Staff

DavidUK Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 2624 Posts	Posted 09/07/2012 1:53 pm I am guessing the two digit code printed under the serial number must be for the issuing bank... mine says B2 (B is New York?) This is a guess on my part...really if the book lists 20 types it should tell the reader how to differenciate between them. Report this Post to the Staff
wquinn Pillar of the Community United States 2295 Posts	Posted 09/11/2012 10:05 am Starting around that series, they changed the notes a bit, so now it is confusing on how to identify the Federal Reserve District. The Federal Reserve District letter is now found in the serial #. It is the second letter. All but the 1 and 2 dollar notes, follow this new change. wquinn Pillar of the Community United States 2295 Posts	Posted 09/11/2012 10:24 am Look at the beginning of the book some where. I'm pretty sure it does. It is just hidden in there in a small paragraph, usually. And it might not include a photo of it, which makes it hard to find too.
