I doubt most people even count it before they dump, so they have no idea what the total should be and just accept the count for what it is.

Quote: Its laziness at times. They got "most of it" totalled on their ticket and don't want to be bothered with reaching into the rejection bin. Well, I was asking why the machine would kick out spendable coins, not why people would leave them there afterwards. But you have a point as well.

Here is a recent coin star find in Tucson Az. About $9.30. Of course that's with the "43" quarter being $8.50 at the time of my find. Woohoo

I bet a lot of silver ends up in coin machines because most people don't know that quarters & dimes used to be made of silver, much less do they know when that changed. Quote: See my previous reply. Yes, I did see that, and that seems to be as good of an answer as there is.

Thx everyone. Love my pre 64's. Especially when it's my favorite four letter "f" word. My next score a few days later. Not bad just no silver but I'll take it. It's the fave 4f

One day on my way out of Walmart, I saw a lady at the coin star putting in her change. I stopped to let her know about the reject bin. She had no clue. I stood there as she finished and reached in to pull out a penny. But she had no idea about it. Just lost some change but I felt good about it. Sometimes its just not all about the money.
