Dearborn, you're in Phx, so any Safeway, Frys food or Walmart will have them. Even my food city has one it's just not an actual "coinstar".

After a long dry spell I finally found some treasure at the local Safeway Coinstar this evening. I got a 1942 (P) Mercury dime as well as 2 Zincolns.

Sweet silver, n9jig! I've harvested a few silver Roosevelts, but never a Mercury. Great find!

Quote:Quote: Quote: Well, I was asking why the machine would kick out spendable coins... See my previous reply. I watched with great anticipation as a guy from Mexico fed coins from a full grocery bag into a Coinstar. I was hoping for a good haul of international coins or at least a trade of some sort. The machine rejected about 20% of the coins - to the point the guy had to empty the reject bin because coins were spilling out on the floor. I believe it could have been a calibration error or coin overload. When he left, I harvested over $9 in change that he abandoned. He was gone when I found them.

This 1964-D Roosie was all by its lonesome in the reject bin just waiting for me to rescue it today.

Brilliant find, Hondo Boguss! Sweet find, n9jig! I found two Mercury dimes in the reject bin with a silver Roosevelt dime four years ago! I got scared cos the machine is across from the customer service desk. I do not frequent this store. I did this because of you guys. :) Just to see if it is true.on my first try, I scored! But I wimped cos of the glares from the desk.

Quote: But I wimped cos of the glares from the desk. So next time, go with a few pennies - shove them in and then check the reject slot and take any score you can

Imagine if that had been a 1942/41 Merc dime.
