Ok, as the next hint, I will answer the first question by the person to post here. It must be a yes or no question though.

OK, do the 3 character groupings by color decode to a single character? In other words, on line 5, does the BAG in red decode to one letter and the STF in orange decode to another letter?

That is what I was thinking too Lars, but I think there is also some sort of scrambling based on the colours.

I just wanted to verify I was barking up the wrong tree before abandoning that line of investigation entirely. There are seven lines and line five has two groupings of letters (red and orange). Nod said there were 7 words and the shortest word was two letters, but he dodged any question that would expose the pattern he is using to display the code as an obvious red herring.

No closer to the answer, though.

I know I will never be able to break the code, so I will tell you what I think: the 2 letter word is made up of the 2 green letters(don't ask me how)

You said the phrase is not a famous quote. Is the phrase a grammatically correct sentence?

larsdog, no to all your questions except the one about being grammatically correct. I don't know for sure if the grammar is totally proper, but it is the kind of thing a person would say and not just 7 random words. More hints will come tomorrow.

Yay for Thur football!

OK, so it may not be an entirely proper sentence, but it's a phrase that should be recognizable, correct?

The letters do NOT need to be rearranged to be decoded, correct?

There are not 24 letters in the decoded answer, correct?

What about ozcoins' question: "Is every character needed to decode the answer?"
