Have not read the instructions yet. The lighting in the camera gets in the way. Not too impress but I'm still learning the AmScope. The stand is too short so I made an extension with a towel holder. I'm in the market for a used Canon DSLR setup

Got my USB microscope today. Just messing around with it right now. Takes amazing micro (or macro?) photos of mint marks. My D/D/D Franklin looks cool!
Too bad I can't do full photos. I've tried numerous times and it just won't focus on the whole coin. Bummmer, but oh well.

Can you get the whole coin in the shot with that stand? Or how are you doing it? one thing to remember is that it won't focus if you get too far from the coin.

Anything a nickle or smaller does "ok" with a full coin shot. Anything bigger and no matter how far out I focus or how far I move it away, you can barely even tell it's a coin. Just a silver blob. Sort of really bummed out I can't do full shots, no idea why I can't but others don't have an issue. Anyways, here are some results. 1950-D Franklin 1945 WLH

Nice close up detail shots... As for the focus I'm scratching my head... Must be something that hopefully can be corrected either mechanically or in the software.. Could the focus wheel be jammed (stuck)? Can you get full range of movement? On mine, for example, (if you can imagine the knob being a "dial") I can turn the focus knob completely 360 degrees. Also I remember somewhere in the software "settings" tabs there is a place where you can zoom in, out, left, right, etc.. I have a feeling that is, or could be, reset or adjusted.. Because it looks and sounds like its zoomed in all the way.. The specs seem identical I don't see any other reason why you can't get similar results to mine.

It freely zooms in and out without problem. I can see the optic go in and out. If I can't get it to work right maybe I'll just order the same scope as you and just eat the loss on this one (it was $30). At least I got a stand... The software packaged with it is called AmScope. I tried to download another program but it won't recognize the microscope. One issue I'm having is now there's a black area on the picture. Looks like maybe dust or something, will have to get some compressed air and it give it a blast. If that doesn't fix it, might be a problem with the microscope itself.

Have you found anything in the settings where you can manually zoom using your mouse? There should be an "options" tab up in the left corner, under which you could go in and do things like lower the screen resolution, flip or rotate the image, edit, etc..
To do this On mine First I had to go into the "preview size" tab and lower the screen resolution down to something like 800x600, then look under the "face tracking" tab and there is a zoom setting in there that can be manually adjusted or disabled.

With 10x you should be able to get full pics of silver dollars easily.

Raymo, you would think so. I'm wondering if maybe they didn't send a 20x-200x by mistake or something. I might just try a different company. It's only a $28 whoops I guess.

I wonder if it's like my Celestron ? I was taking close ups and I thought it should have gotten closer and I was getting frustrated with it and twisted the focus ring real hard. All of a sudden it went by the hard spot and I got super close ups. Your max might go further with a firm twist. Worth a try.
