Perhaps it was a marketing strategy. The Mint knew the penny set would be popular but still set the limit of 3 per household. Just look as this forum and the RFD forum, constant talk about who got it and who didn't.

As I recall the Bateman coin did sell out at the mint so their limit of one was correct.

"The situation with hoarding is here to stay and will only amplify in the future. The Perth Mint sells out their popular coins within minutes of the release date and collectors in Australia have been complaining for years about missing out. As long as coins are appreciating in value, some significantly, it will attract new buyers who are short-term oriented. This will not change in the near term." That's a good point. As for others talking about the Bateman coin limit, I think the reason why RCM set 1 coin per household limit was because of their low stocks in the inventory. It seems like many of the Moose coins were purchased by Canada post so it doesn't leave much in the inventory for RCM to sell more than 1 per household.

Was able to get more then 1 set (will avoid to publish exact quantity - I see it very sensitive here). The set will not join to a "core" of my collection (1 oz coins), but will be another nice RCM item. But, as you probably seen, RCM should have been a more accurate depiction of the history of the 1 cent coin including proper sizes - I've count 3 points that may disappoint the collector. Still a nice set to keep.

Just now went through Canadian Coins & Currency and saw that the set is available for CAD 249.95 For the people, that didn't have opportunity to get it - this is the best price now! (on ebay we list it for more ). So, it still good opportunity for those who didn't care about issue price and do not want to wait.

People in Canada should try to find it in their local post offices before paying $249.95 for that set. or just wait a few months and it will be close to issue price.

If you can wait - the price will be more "comfortable" when all the "wave" will pass. Beside this - new products will be issued and will attract people's attention.

I would be shocked if there was a shipping delay. Is the best bet to run down to Post Office?
Maybe a new poll tomorrow....Who scored one for issue on Oct. 2 ;)
I haven't bought a set yet either :(

I just checked. It's still available. The last 2 BIN's today on ebay were over $300.

They still have the 5oz coin though, but you have to call as the website already says item unavailable. There weren't many though...
