Thanks to our good buddy, A-noob, who informed me that the Greek equivalent of Sol, is "Helios", I can enter a second pony into the race ... => maridvnvm, is this a true assumption? (I will remove it, if it doesn't qualify) ... Hey, you've all seen this next coin a few times, but it's "back, Baby" and this round it means business ... stevex6's Coin #2Rhodes AR HemidrachmDate: 408-390 BC Diameter: 13.0 mm Weight: 1.7 grams Obverse: Head of Helios facing Reverse: Rose in incuse square Characteristics: Rare early issue

from wikipedia....
Etymology
The Latin sol for "Sun" is the continuation of the PIE heteroclitic *Seh2ul- / *Sh2-en-, cognate to Germanic Sol, Sanskrit Surya, Greek Helios, Lithuanian Saul- .[1] also compare Latin "solis" to Etruscan "usil". Today, "sol" is still the main word for sun in romance languages. "Sol" is used in contemporary English by astronomers and science fiction authors as the proper name of the Sun to distinguish it from other stars which may have their own planetary systems.
In the same article they have an identification with Janus but there is no concrete evidence in antiquity of this relationship.

Steve out of all the coins I see on this forum that Archaic Rhodes is definitely one of my favorites. I just love the style and of course, the hair. Helios has got to be the God with the best hair.

I certainly think that Helios should be permitted ad should have stated so at the outset.
