In addition to loving Roman history I am a big fan of medieval history as well, especially the Crusades. Luckily I found a few coins from the Crusader states within my budget and decided on this one, a denier of Prince Bohemond III of Antioch, who reigned from 1149-1201. This one was minted later in his reign, around 1163-1201, when in 1163 he started reigning by himself after his mother (who was ruling as regent) was exiled. It's not my first medieval coin (that honor goes to my Byzantine trachy of Manuel I) but as the title says its my first from any of the Crusader states Bohemond III AR Denier Class EObv:+BOAMVDNVS, Helmeted head left and wearing chainmail, crescent to left, star to right Rev: +ANTIOCHIA around cross and downward crescent in second quarter, three annulets between I and O of ANTIOCH 17 mm wide

I've always been interested in Medieval coins. This one is interesting considering the history of Bohemond III: Quote: Bohemond III of Antioch (1144â€"1201), also known as the Stammerer or the Stutterer, was Prince of Antioch from 1163 to his death. He was a son of Constance of Antioch by her first husband Raymond of Poitiers. His name is sometimes spelled Bohemund.

=> congrats on the 3k-post, Jango!! => that's a very cool coin I have only bought one medieval coin (NOTE => my thread ended-up being punted to the World Coin Category) ... I too think that they are very cool, but I kinda steered myself back into the Greek and Roman coin-worlds (that is a big enough target-zone as it is!!)
