hunter20ga Pillar of the Community United States 1173 Posts	Posted 03/17/2007 9:53 pm I know this copper coin has no numismatic value, but my Great Grandfather insisted on carrying it in his pocket until the day he died. It appears French or British, too me (my GGF was a Francophile) with a barely discernable bearded man's profile on the obverse, and what may be a standing eagle? on the reverse. The obverse of the coin has an image of Napoleon III on it and the words, Napoleon III Empereur. The bottom of the obverse is where you would find the date. On the reverse is an eagle and the words, Empire Francais, and on the bottom is the denomination Cinq Centimes. I have the same one. Mine is dated 1855. Report this Post to the Staff
