Quote: cipster, It got mighty quiet here on Friday and Saturday. matthewvincent - no 1885 or 1886 in my collection but I'm ok until 1912S. I'm not promising quality, but I do have something for each year. I don't have any pictures of my 1913 MS65 (a.k.a. the sixth one known) and don't know if I'll have time to photograph it. Sorry, I'm not writing poetry as so many talented members are writing. I'm a computer scientist and can only remember a poem that starts out "There one was a girl from Nantucket...' This is a family community so I won't continue.

Your 1913 can't be real because the real ones are PF's not MS's. Fake slab!!! By the way..... That was a young "man from Nantucket"...

And I worked ten years as a COBOL programmer! cipster, Poetry is just my way of yanking everyone's chain! Hey, if you collect "V" nickels a sense of humor is VITAL. ANY sense of humor. Even among the Barber folks, the nickels are the forgotten group. The pecking order is: 1) Quarters 2) Halves 3) Dimes 4) Nickels A dealer recently asked me, in ALL SINCERITY, "Are the 'V" nickels Barber coins?" From my Basic Days: 10 'Collecting "V" Nickels 20 Gosub 100:' Frustration Routine 25 F=F+1:'Add one to frustration level. 26 If F>100 then goto 300 30 Goto 20 40 End 100 If Search = 0 then return else goto 200 200 Print "Success!":End 300 Print "Failure!":End

Mais utilizez, mon ami, les mots francais, et je vous repondre en francais! Tant pis! But be forewarned! In other words, do not screw with me in French! JOKING!
Computer languages and natural languages are the same to me: just another code to learn! (Ah yes, the good old days when programing was cool. They were ALL HUNTING for us, way back when.) But tell you this: we programmers made the most of three hour Friday lunches over Long Island Iced Teas! And the occasional "toke up" sessions in the park! How else could we possibly fix the problems that we faced?

I am a couple days late for 1886 but here it is, complete with some rather unfortunate countermarks- I also introduce to you the first(and possibly the lowest grade) in a parade of 1888s-

Love the 1888 Biokemist. Boy howdy she has taken some long walks in front pockets! That's what this thread is all about. Well here's her "kept" sister..... 1888 Liberty (V) Nickel:

And now we come to 1888: (just WHERE did I put my rhyming dictionary?) Oft have I spoke of Great Aunt T., The last of thirteen she. She worked for Ma Bell Telephone Counting COINS in NYC! Much better than at Quickie Mart She had first dibs on many. Her one mistake was cause for me To gnash my teeth a-plenty! Into a hole marked '88 She placed an '83. For years and years I searched in vain Without a victory. Then recently I found this one From GSC no less! Most here dislike their photo tricks and suffer great duress. But hear me out, and do compare My scans with pics they made. I open up myself to all To give a truthful grade.

AHHA!! Matt. Given my extensive background in these matters, I clearly detect symptoms of the virulent M-ust O-ver E-xtend virus for which there is no known cure hidden in your 1888 depictions. My condolences.... [sigh!]

biokemist6 - I really enjoyed your 1888. These nickles were hard workers and except for the 1883 No Cents were in use daily and for a long time. Here's my 1888
