@Panda, was it boring because sellers had nothing interesting? I didn't have time to attend and I'd never been to one before. I think Bibo finds it boring because the lack of any deals and the overzealous guards. You think it's the same reason?

Many coins are well over priced, e.g. a 2004 Silver RCM Privy mark set in 2013 Charlton catalog is $100/SP65, $125/SP67
but dealer asks for $160, :(

Saturday noon, some dealers even left, looks empty.

The show is located in a library, when you go out, the libary security will search your bags.

Hello Panda and Bibo,

Thank you for joining us this year at the Toronto Coin Expo show. I will try to answer your concerns.

- The guards are essential to secure the room's content. The guards are very approachable and friendly and are ready to assist anyone that requires assistance. Have you said hi to them? They are at the show to protect everyone, even you.

- Sorry to hear you did not have a good time, I am not sure what you expect from the coin show. The Bourse and Auction featured items spanning a wide spectrum of the Numismatics interest to meet just about every collectors needs.

- The shows admission is in-line with other like size coin shows, and there is always the opportunity to show your free Toronto Coin Expo membership discount wood for a $1 off admission.

- You are correct that at noon on Saturday one dealer had left to catch a flight. Out of the 30+ dealers at the show, I am surprised that the one dealer's departure at noon had such a detrimental impact on you.

- Yes at the noon hour on Saturday the bourse did experience a calm as attendees went out for lunch, but at 2pm, the Bourse was full and buzzing right up until 5pm.

The Toronto Coin Expo show was an outstanding success, bringing collectors, dealers and friends together to interact and spread the joy of the numismatics hobby. I hope you see you at our upcoming shows in 2013 from May 31-June 1 & Oct 4-5. While you are attending, please stop buy and say hello to me, as I enjoy meeting other passionate collector and also making the show enjoyable for all.

Regards
Jared

I attend the Expo in both days.
Will disagree that the show was boring - looking all over me I saw people held a conversation with dealers, bought, traded.
For myself I searched a couple of rare (not really, but with limited mintage) coins, and for my surprise - I didn't find them.
But from the one of the guys there I got advice to check the dealer, that didn't come - and I really found one of the coins.
Impulsive purchases - I know the ways to avoid them, the bad thing that I left the show with full of cash, that was ready to spend there.
Will meet you on May 2013 there!

This was my first show in downtown Toronto, on the other side of the table. I was a little worried at first, because I don't carry the upper echelon of registry set graded coins - I simply cannot afford to do so. But, to my surprise, I was told that I had a good selection of mid-range, affordable Canadian coins and a strong selection of world coins. If CCF members identified themselves to me, I made sure they got a discount and young numismatists from CCF got a free bag of world coins. The sad part was that I could not "go hunting" out on the bourse, and grabbing beers at lunchtime was definitely missed!!

As a collector, I have been to a lot of shows across Canada. By far, this one had the nicest bourse, the best security and there was a sense of professionalism there, that you don't normally see at coin shows. Well done Jared, I look forward to my return.

Hey Jared,
It was my first show, and I had a great time.
It was very cool to see a Elizabeth I crown and some gold ancients.

Thanks for inviting me,
Windchild (North York Coin Club YN)
