Craig, Islam is not a race, it's a religion, an enslaving religion. The hypocritical one that pretends to be peaceful and equal.

Quote: Perhaps the most interesting thing I noticed is that there is an extra number in the serial number. 16 and then 7 numbers Yes, unsure of the exact reason why it was decided to implement this, other than for automated note readers to readily identify new-gen from old. Or maybe to free up AA-AM prefixes on the $5 note again? It's not as if we a facing a prefix crunch on any of the denominations - the biggest run would have been VG in 1995? Anyway the stack shot from the RBA does indicate the 11 character serial will be a issue feature...

Sorry I think they look like play money. It looks like someone printed them on an old cannon colour printer for a play. Just my opinion.
But I guess it wont make much difference. Money wont be here much longer any ways. 20 years max and it will be virtually gone.

Quote: After my initial impressions that the note was being attacked by woodlice or bacteria, I'm feeling reassured upon learning the "yellow things" are in fact Prickly Moses Wattles. Yeah, the 'wattle' spoils it IMO,something like a Kindergarten class would design. What sort of graphic designer would place Wattle ad-hoc all over the place,I'm probaly missing something but still don't like the design.

I knew there was something wrong with them, but I couldn't figure out exactly what. This sums up my thoughts exactly - they look like play money! Neverthless, I still want to collect some before they face the axe. I could sell them all to primary schoolers at 10 times the face value.

The most common complaint is that it looks like it was designed by a committee (and it was). Quote: Or maybe to free up AA-AM prefixes on the $5 note again? It's not as if we a facing a prefix crunch on any of the denominations - the biggest run would have been VG in 1995?
Anyway the stack shot from the RBA does indicate the 11 character serial will be a issue feature... My speculation about the extra serial number is that you could be right in that it will free up the "A" prefix for the $5 note. Also, with $50 notes being the real workhorse denomination they have had to print new $50 every year since 2003. Perhaps the extra serial number will allow them to have bigger print runs so that they won't have to print them every year. Whatever the reason, the extra serial number will have a definite effect on collectors. Presumably it will mean that there will be more first and last prefixes but fewer solid serial numbers
