Thank you all for your input, I don't know if my question was actually answered but I have come to the conclusion that the actual number of these coins, or any coin is very subjective. I will use the Charlton as a guide line or reference point instead of firm or actual qty's produced. I appreciate everyones input, great forum and great members. Some excellent points regarding the amount that are available as of right now for sale on any sales platform (very few), have to agree that the original 10k production was probably not produced. I will proceed to gather all the masks within my kids rooms and the ones on display in my office and carefully box them up and drop them in the safe and hope there is some value there one day. I do enjoy looking at the coins everyday when arrive at my office. I find them to be very tastefully done and great colours. Again, thank you for everyones input and help on this matter.

Here we go - I received the following confirmation from the Royal Canadian Mint directly: Thank you for contacting the Royal Canadian Mint regarding the hockey mask collection. Here is the information you are looking for: Calgary Goalie Mask Painted 2009 = 125 Edmonton Goalie Mask Painted 2009 = 147 Montreal Goalie Mask Painted 2009 = 748 Ottawa Goalie Mask Painted 2009 = 95 Toronto Goalie Mask Painted 2009 = 244 Vancouver Goalie Mask Painted 2009 = 129 This information is found in our 2009 Annual Report. For any further enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us at http://www.mint.ca/contactus or by phone at 1-800-267-1871 (Canada), 1-800-268-6468 (US) or at 613-954-2626 (International). Our hours of operation are 8 am to 8 pm (Monday to Friday) EST. Your interest in our products is appreciated. Because I used the online form, I do not have a copy of my question. Just for the record, I asked how many were produced and said it was because I heard conflicting pieces of information that suggested only a few were created.

So if the price of these coins doesn't spike to $1500 each after that confirmation email I will be very shocked. These are definitely sleeper coins that are going to blow up (in my opinion).

I should also mention that I am happy to forward the actual email from the RCM for further verification.

One thing I find interesting as the owner of two of the coins (Montreal and Toronto). Not only does the COA reflect the 10,000 mintage but the Toronto COA states the coin is 1000 something out of 10,000...interesting considering only 244 were produced.

Is this was part of RCM mail? Quote: "This information is found in our 2009 Annual Report." If yes, this is the key phrase. They say directly: "these numbers we've found in the 2009 reports"

If I'm not mistaken, these coins were released just after October in 2008? It doesn't show any being sold in 2008 though. I wonder if this is a commissioned coin that was ordered by a company that went belly-up during the recession (just speculating aloud). Or did the RCM mess up the release?

@Silveroid Yes, that line was verbatim from RCM to me. I just checked GoC publications website - the 2009 Annual Report lists the quantities above as the "2009 Quantity Invoiced". Please see page 49 of the actual document: http://publications.gc.ca/site/eng/...ication.htmlYou will need to scroll down to the "issues" and then click 2009.

It was sort of common knowledge that the RCM was melting unsold NCLT but I have never got a simple answer from the RCM, maybe you can ask them this question, if so this would answer these goofy and odd low mintages in this time period.

Jarms, the COA numbers are completely random. I've bought coins where only 7000 units were sold out of 15,000 and my COA numbers were 11,000 and something.

I remember a few years back I picked 5 of the masks for 54.95 cad off a ebay seller and as I recall he had quite a few. They weren't very popular at that time except the Montreal mask which was almost 10 times the issue price or more, that's if you could find one.

@JGG
I wish I did. Sold all of them ranging from $100.00 to $160.00 about a year or so.
