@middross

He sold 46 coins and was charging the buyers for shipping @ $0.60 so...

$1.25 -11.9% + $0.30 per transaction for Paypal and ebay fees leaves you with...

$0.80 -$0.25 he paid for each coin.

$0.55 profit per coin. Yes you could argue that envelopes would be $0.02 each, but most people have a bunch lying around the house anyways...

$0.55 -$0.02 for envelope

$0.53 profit per coin.

So, that means to hime his time is worth $6.60/hour if it takes him 5 mins. to package.

Also, we must remember that 4 people bought 10 coins and one person bought 2 which saves him $0.30 x40 = $12.00 for the $0.30 per transaction fee.

That raises his profit per coin to $0.79 per coin and his "hourly wage" to $9.49, which is almost getting close to minimum wage and really is minimum wage because he only needed to spend 40 mins packaging because only 8 buyers bought the coins.

Then again I'm not taking into account that two of those buyers sent best offer prices that I cannot see from the ebay page...

WOW! Now wasn't that fun!

Well, I guess if I want a card really badly I could probably get one for around $5...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/War-1812-Co...em4abd236b9f

Theres some money there, get 500,000 cards free and sell 'em for $5 a pop, you'd be a millionaire!

JK, don't even know how many of the cards they made :)

Didn't vet your other numbers but given that the seller is unlikely to report this as taxable income, you can add back about 30% tax rate when comparing to minimum wage. In colloquial terms, this is an "under the table" transaction.

I got 2 rolls + a bunch of collect cardboard. It is actually very nice to display coin in inside that presentation card.

Got some circulated Brocks today, the red coloring on the one, and the frosting on the other are both stunning.

Only wishing if USMint would operate chain of retail store or partner up with the Post Office to sell/distribute coins.... we could have many more collectors.

Yeah. I'm excited too, can't wait to see what the frosting on the non-colorized one is like!
