Can you send something of a higher value? I assume you mean numismatic value?

Anjohl,
My understanding is that the the dollar amount is to be used as a suggestion. A STRONG suggestion.
However, we are NOT to be disappointed if we do not receive an equal value in return.
I myself am fighting the urge to be over generous.
Santa wants every boy and girl to be happy with the present that we get.
I will play keeping that spirit in mind.

Me too! I think the low cost (5-10 bucks) of the gift you get to send is part of the fun - it's a challenge!

Well, my dealer sells a lot of stuff to me at significant discounts off HIS price, which often beats the market price by 20-30% as it is, so I can get a nice piece for $10 for sure. *MY* ideal would be to know the targets handle, and research his/her post history to deduce what he/she might really like!

When they choose Secret Santa assignments, you and Santa will know the member to get your gift. You can then research their posts, or see if they have an entry in What our Members Collect (from the menu bar on the left)

rggoodie,

How many different countries are in the giveaway so far? Just a total.

I like the idea that this is global.
Santa sure gets around!

Good point, Fuzzy317, the recipient's past posts will offer lot of information.
