Quote: I assume the 8-digit ones are older than the 9-digit ones. Does it make them rarer? All the ones I see have either 5 or 6 digit numbers, where are you seeing the 8 and 9 digit numbers at?

I would most likely if I had cash....thats why I'm watching out for trades. melt on my OP offering is pretty much exactly 800...just a bit higher. Thats why I have been using it. Its what I'm willing to invest in a bar like that. Anyone else feel its a resonable price to pay?

Hi guys I've been doing a little lurking from Sunny Oz (I'm up in FNQ, aka banana-bender country). Englehard were over in Oz (as Englehard Australia) making cast bars with Aussie Silver up until the 80s apparently in both imperial and metric sizes. I have a single old kilo bar: The smaller bars attract the higher premiums. I'm not sure how the numbering system works - but I presume 4 digits is pretty early on. The other firm of which I'm aware (because I have a bar or two) is Matthey Garrett (a precursor to Johnson Matthey). I've been debating putting the Englehard on ebay, but am not enamoured of PayPal charges

That's about an 1100 dollar bar via kilo 32.15 oz....
Better sold to a member here verses losing fees....
