I do agree this snake looks very nice, if you are looking to buy it for your collection, I find it is worth it as it looks very nice, but to buy and resale on ebay ... Good luck xD Too many of them plus price doesn't match weight at all :O Although face value 20$ so might sell for it's initial price or a little higher. ebay + Paypal take 12%, don't forget

SO, for $6 less, you get a coin containing half as much silver...I am lost, why would anyone get anything other than the 1/2 or full ounce version?

Because this is not a silver forum its a (NCLT)forum, where we care about the coin not the silver

@loonar: This site might provide some insight as to where the other 100,888 of these coins are being marketed (and, from what I can initially see, it looks like they'll be available for purchase prior to the 30th...). http://www.sgcoins.com/v-1650-1.html

@loonar: my pleasure--I figured if I'm going to make a first post, it might as well be semi-helpful.... ;-)

Thanks for the link Winnie88. Note that 62 SGD is roughly 50 CAD so the RCM price of 32 CAD is a relative bargain. Granted, the Singapore issue has a much nicer box. BTW, this is an odd marketing spin by the RCM. They 'sold' 100,888 to Singapore Gold Coins Investment PTE Ltd. That is 78% of the total mintage of 128,888. So now the RCM markets this to Canada and US customers saying that it's already 78% sold. Meanwhile, Singapore Gold Coins has this on their website: "This is a special coin issued by Royal Canadian Mint and exclusive distributed by Singapore Gold Coins and its related company".

Perhaps it's a good thing that the RCM didn't sell more of their mintage to the folks in Singapore, otherwise the MC members would've seen another "Awaiting Stock" notification when they went to check the website.... I agree that the box from Singapore does look a lot nicer than the standard RCM clamshell offering, however upon closer examination it also looks like it's made of cardboard (although without one physically in hand it's difficult to say).

I am trying to figure out who is the designer of this coin, but unlike many other RCM release, they didn't mention it on their web pages. Does that mean it is "designed by the Mint", sort of a group effort?
