$1...maybe for a holed 1885. Just threw it on ebay. $15 was about what I was thinking. I was going to go the BIN route but said the heck with it, 99C start...we'll see where it goes :-) swcoin.ecrater.com

I would put a jump ring in it put it on a charm bracelet or a key ring. But that's just me. It is exceptionally difficult to put any sort of value to a non silver or gold coin with such a hole in it. One person would say it's too much and another might think he/she is getting a bargain at whatever price you decide upon. I've often wondered what it would cost to have a restoration service fix a holed coin
and what the results would look like. They probably could not fix this coin due to the
damage in the devices anyway. I always liked the 1864 'L' Indian for some reason.
I have no idea what this coin is worth.

I just bought an 1864 for my "holed" collection. I picked it up off ebay for 3.50 and when it got here it had a beautiful L as pretty as could be. I had seen so many holed coins that after finishing my album off I decided to collect them and I'm doing 2x2s in a 20 pocket type 3 ring binder. It's fun and you can pick em up very cheaply. Some of em are gorgeous and it's a shame they got holed. I've even found all 3 Flying Eagles. Oregon coin geek.....*** GO BEAVS ! ! ! ***

Be interesting to see what it goes for. At best I would say 5 bucks. That hole is a nasty one and really detracts from the coin IMO.

up. I opted for the 10 day.
Holed coins are by far my personal least favorite problem coin followed by cleaned.
Numismedia puts this @ $124 in F12 problem free :(

I used to hate em too until I finished my good Indians. I was seeing so many that I just one day decided to see what I could do. I just got 5 more dates in the mail today. Really nice condition except for the holes of course. 1.61 each. I absolutely love my Flying Eagles.

Can anyone elaborate on why the "holing" seems commonish? Just curious. It is really cool to me to see collectors filling such a niche PMD folder with coins like these. -Jay |
