Quick FYI, on the crown is a little jewel that had concealed itself on my scanner-ironically placing itself on the crown. It is not part of the piece, my Liberace collection is not on show lol.

Is this the worst ever 2012 5p coin? I found it lying in the road over the weekend. The 2013 5p alongside is just to show what it SHOULD look like...

NumisRob; It really is a pitiful testament to what the future holds for modern coinage. And distressing to see what the affects of circulation and the environment can do to quickly deteriorate modern coinage. I used to metal detect and when I dug up modern U.S. copper coated zinc pennies, they were completely corroded and practically disintegrated in my hands. And this was only after being buried for less than a decade. Unfortunately our governments are all finding cheaper ways to produce coins by applying micron thin jackets of good metal over a core of steel or zinc that once exposed to the elements just self destructs. Sad.

Hi, I have an 1893 Victorian Penny in excellent condition which may be the Gouby date variety 3 over 2. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Please see uploaded coin image. Thanks

Picked up this 1853 Half Penny recently, never really been interested in the pre-Bronze Victorian stuff but this caught my eye.

About time we had another hammered coin I think! Though pretty late in the series since it's a shilling of Charles I from around 1634. (By 1663 all coins were machine made). A bit soft (worn) and some weak areas to the legends (I'd have liked a crisper mint mark) but a decent portrait for this type. Plus appears to have reasonable toning which adds to that all important eye appeal!

I bought this sixpence as an Easter present for myself (since no one sent me anything), and hopefully it's going to give me a little luck finding silver in rolls. They always say, sixpence is lucky I've always preferred this monogram compared to the later one, looks more "royal" to me. The later one just looks a little strange being curly like that.

A work colleague has just come back from Jersey, and let me go through her change. I got this nice little haul for face value:

Nice coins and photos. I like the golden toning that's occurring.
