Super piece although a selective wipe in places with verdicare maybe a good idea.

I'm actually getting a bit concerned about The Royal Mint's marketing policy. Their latest £5 coin, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Royal Academy, is only available in their shop and on their website as a silver proof. To get a cupro-nickel BU specimen, you have to go through the Westminster Collection, who are promoting it in connection with the Change Checker website. It is nevertheless a very high quality coin, especially if you compare it to an Uncirculated £5 from the 1990s like the Princess Diana commemorative. Any marks are on the plastic sleeve - the coin looks as if it could make MS70:

A recent purchase of questionable authenticity, given that it has medal alignment. I hope I'm not getting off-topic by soliciting opinions here.

Won this in a competition on a Facebook U.K. coin forum. Just need the rest of the set now. Steve :)

Over the years I gathered 57 British Pounds, but have recently moved them on to a new home. Here for the record, showing a few of the different designs

I just dug up a George II half penny at a fairgrounds in Michigan that is corroded and has a hole in it. And it's the oldest coin I have found with my detector. My previous was an 1834 large cent found very close by. I only have a few other British coins that are not very old. O.K. maybe I'm wrong! Perhaps someone here knows what this is. It's a little larger than a U.S. quarter. It has a left facing bust and you can see GEORGIUS (could be a V)on the left edge. And REX on the right edge. There may or may not be II on the right. On the back is a left facing woman seated with shield and spear. Surrounded by BRITAN on the left and NIA on the right. It weighs 8.2 grams but is quite worn and corroded. Any thoughts? I thought it might be from the 1700's?

Got this one to add to my collection of small silver coins. It's my first William IV coin.
