jbuck,

I am having fun. And once again, ckrakowski, my apologies if I came across in the wrong way. CCF, the F is for Family.

"I'm all tapped out."

Strapped for cash(probably already used).

I'm so broke, I couldn't afford the paper to write you an I.O.U.

I am so broke that I don't have a bucket to whiz in nor a window to throw it out.

Scene from "Chisum"; "...did you bring some gold with you? No. Silver? Just lead."

oih8, there's a variant on that scene in my favourite book series, The Dark Tower. "Have I earned my payment, then?" "Aye." "And what be it, gold or silver?" "Lead." The early portion of the series was based heavily on the Western genre, so I wouldn't be surprised if it came right out of this movie!

I don't think I've seen mentioned yet the film Fistful of Dollars?

And while we're on the subject . . . "I'm just a poor boy from a poor family" (Jbuck got my semi-obscure Billy Joel ref once awhile back, I will be sad if nobody knows this one)

And as the resident theatre major . . .

Money makes the world go around!
The world go around!
The world go around!
Money makes the world go around, it makes the world go round!

Oh, money money money money money money money
A mark, a yen, a buck or a pound (a buck or a pound! A buck or a pound!)
Is all that makes the world go around
That clinking, clanking sound,
It makes the world go round!

Have a little Cabaret on me. (I would've kept going but the lyrics get decidedly, uh . . . not-family-friendly from there.)

Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Any way the wind blows...

Heard this one this morning; had me thinking back to some missteps I took: "I don't care too much for money; money can't buy me love."--The Beatles
Maybe I just get misled too easily.

Here's another from a song that's stayed with me; this one's a "blues" note: "Hey mister can you change a dollar; give me a lucky dime."--Mississippi John Hurt

blackjack,

Just the fact you mentioned John Hurt gives you 100 bonus points for this round. My ipod is full of his music. Every morning I think of 'Coffee Blues.'

I don't think this one was used. If so, my apologies:

"We need to s t r e t c h our dollars."
