I'm a big fan of the $2. It's not like I can carry around a roll of $100s.

I don't know why the the U.S. public will not accept coin or note denominations in '2's. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that the dime circulates, the next demonination above that is the Quarter.

I don't understand why the $2 note is not accepted, or a $2 coin is not introduced.

In most countries the coin were denominated in 1, 2, 5, 10 20 50 & 100 for coins, then 1, 2, 5, 10 50 & 100 for notes. Inflation pressures force the lowest denominations out of circulation, and also forces the introduction of a new highest denomination. Nevertheless the system of the denomination range continues. 50 cent coin does't circulate much, either.

Personally, I LIKE the $2 note, (Half Dollar as well), and would be very happy to use it, when I next visit the U.S.

Wait another 10 years and society will be completely cashless anyway. I will be very sad and angry when that happens.

More thread necro.

As an update to this thread, there are currently Series 2013 $2 notes out there and we're probably due for a 2016 or 2017 series here soon.

The $2 note is one of my favorites. Don't do away with the $2 bill, do away with the $1 bill!

Certainly not in 10 years. Though we are definitely heading in that direction, there will be the need for physical cash for the foreseeable future.

Go to your bank and ask them if they have any... If not, ask them to order a strap ($100)...

Funny I saw this post, I just asked my credit union for $100 in $2 bills hoping to find some stars and older series.
