1.Gold tOress 2nd coin
2.Silver Stevex6 Sassanian Byzantine
3.Bronze Gianno 2nd coin (very relevent)

I only had one coin I could have possibly entered... an Elizabeth 1st hammered silver sixpence 1596. Though technically medieval the seperation in my mind between ancient and modern coins is whether they are milled or handstruck but even so I still thought it was too modern to enter...

I was hoping to see some Ethelred silver longcrosses in this section, another old coin that is a favourite of mine but the gold Byzantines and the gold Spanish coins I thought were particularly cool.

I check regularly in Vcoins loking for a nice example of Byzantine coin to add to my collection but I am holding out till I find that coin that I have to have.

Interesting Smackdown ^^ gratz to all who entered :)

I'd like to vote only for gold:stevex6 : Khusro II.
because in my opinion there are a lot of coins of the same importance and it's difficult decide for silver or bronze.

GOLD - augustus1 - Stefano II - an interesting coin of which I have never seen a comparison to.
SILVER - t0rress - Basil I the Macedonian & Constantine - Just a lovely coin, all round, and I love the design.
BRONZE - Engs Manuel Cup Coin - I love cup coins - no idea how they have survived so well. I like his portrait - long neck - a bit weird looking.

SteveX6's Kusro - If steve were about to receive his prize, this could have placed silver. But in his absence I'm going to

My Honourable Mentions: Engs other cup coin - squidgy faced Jesus and Gianos Basillus and Constantine - love the legend on the reverse about rome.

Really, this was a great one - so many great coins, I wish I could put honourable mentions for all of them, but it would take ages!

Seriously, all very interesting coins, sadly I had nothing to enter but probably enjoyed this SD more than any other so far.

gold - Eng5858s 1st Manuel, the reverse (at least I think its the reverse, the second picture) I find beautiful, not sure why but I do.

cребро - t0rress Basil I, fantastic, I want one!

bronze - Anoobs Khusro II wearing a 'great hat', great! its fantastic!
