Hello everyone,

I think this coin is a Clashed Die and came here to confirm. I couldn't find any info online about Die Clashes on coins from Mexico. I noticed the clashes on the reverse without any magnification and I noticed them almost instantaneously. The ear that is clashed in is VERY visible with the naked eye (that's how I noticed the clash). Upon scanning my coin, I noticed the obverse of the coin was even more odd. There is a dot in the center of the coin, and what appears to be lathe lines emanating outward from it. Also, as far as I know, the hair to the right of his ear looks completely wrong. It's split and all over the place. There is also an indent that is above his ear. Any opinions on this coin would be much appreciated.

Compare the hair on my coin with the 1975 coin in this picture, completely different:

Nice analysis! The clashing is very clear, as are the lathe lines--good find!

Thank you! Any idea about the hair & why it's split like that? Could that be a DDO or MDO? Any clue as to how much something like this is worth? I'm having a lot of troubling looking up these types of things. If I try to google "Mexico Coin Die Clashes" I get information about wars in mexico. xD

Nice coin! Carlos Amaya published a great catalogue for modern Mexico coins. This appears to be a clash of 1p-1975-3. The identifier is the number of knots above the tie on Morelas' "do" and the shape of the 5. Value $25-$50.
