I found a low serial number ten dollar banknote today AB 06 000010 and it got me thinking!!! whats classed as a low/high serial number by most? is it under 100 or maybe 1000/10000 lets see where we stand on this one.

Low/High-Serial-Numbersed as a low/high serial by most? is it under 100 or maybe 1000 let's see what we all think on this.

Definitely a low number and a keeper! Within 500 of 0000000 or 999999 is low IMO. Below 100 is getting extremely low. Your note is awesome. I sold a low serial (000033) $5 paper in UNC on ebay two weeks ago and it fetched $50. A couple days ago someone purhased a very well circulated $5 note in the 300's from me for 20 bucks. I would say yours is worth at least $50 but I really am no expert. Hopefully goatieman or banknotelover will swing by.

That's a ripper low serial!

Can you show us a close up of the serial from the top left corner, the last 3 digits appear to be different to the rest, a bit larger. Probably a bit of an optical illusion.

I know nothing about foreign currency but in the US if that "6" wasn't there it would definitely be considered a Low serial but with it its not, it takes at least 4 0's on the front of the serial to be considered low here and not sure what constitutes high

Bryan,The first 2 numbers represent the year the note was printed ( in this case 2006 ) so only the last 6 are the serial number, 000010.

Thanks mleivers71! It was an optical illusion or just my old eyes playing tricks on me. A great note anyway and one I'd be overjoyed to find.

I think there's still a noticeable difference in the spacing of the last 3 numbers though. Anyone else see that? Another illusion?

There is always a larger gap between the first 3 digits and the last 3, but all of the last 3 seem to be spaced wider apart.

To the point that bryan was trying to make, US notes below 1000(4 0's to start) are considered low. With yours only having a 6-digit serial combination, 4 0's to start I think would definitely be considered low.

Nice find!
