It looks like some sort of stain, not a mint error.

Not stained, Missing the top coat, If it was dipped, I would think that it would be even distribution on both sides.

Discoloration due to some sort of environmental exposure. It can happed to one or both sides depending what it was. My sister gave me a dime that was totally copper colored, thinking it was an error. After checking the weight and specific gravity, I determined it was just a stained coin, and proved it with a dremel tool with a polishing head. Took the stain off, just a normal dime underneath.

looks like the stain on the back is in the shape of another dime. I suspect enviornmental damage as well
