Quote: Got a Ben Harrison, Chester Arthur, Will McKinley, Theo Roosevelt, Taft, and Woodrow Wilson (all P mark). They certainly aren't rare but I think they were made as proofs only. They are not proof, they are business strikes. However, they were not minted for circulation; they are for collectors only.

Quote: How hard is it to find 1981 coins? 1981 SBAs were only available in Mint Sets so your odds of finding one in circulation is quite low.

Last week one of my head tellers was on vacation, and the fill in made a mistake and ordered me 2 boxes of small dollars! yikes well I went ahead and got them anyway, and I must say it was alot of fun going through 2,000 of them. It sparked my interest in the series and I now have a nice little collection of Mint state Sacs, Susan B's, and Prez dollars. I ended up keeping about 18 proofs. 3-4 Sacs 2000, 2002, 2010, and 2006 I believe. Several Prez proofs, and 1 susan B proof. I also kept about 2 rolls of MS 79S business strikes, and some really nicely tones Sacs, plus a couple satin finish presidents. I only found 5 newer prez dollars and they were Taft, Theo Roosevelt, Mckinley, Arthur, and Hoover. I also found a few of the newer Sacs of which the 2012 is my favorite. I think I might actually order these boxes again. Out of 2,000 I only found 1 with edge lettering problems, but it was a date missing the last number. It was a 201 Garfield.

I am glad to know that you still search through them before you spend them.

I just did $500 in mixed small dollars. Major finds: 79S SBA proof type 1, 2003D & 2006D NIFC Sacs. Nothing else of interest. Not very many SBAs- I am keeping nicely struck SBAs, thinking that these will be removed eventually and melted. 1980 dated coins are hard to find in nice condition due to lower mintage. 1999 are even lower mintage, but not much circulation so most of the ones I see are in nice shape. I'm also looking for 79P wide rim variety.

I picked up a box of dollar coins tonight. going to drop them on Sears, Roebuck, and CO tomorrow. Found a 2014 NA hole filler and a Coolidge hole filler. Also found some later Sac's, some NIFC presidents, the obligatory foreign job, a lowball Sac, and 4 really nasty brown ones.

Just went through $100.
Out of 100 coins the approximate breakdown was: 21 SBA$, ~40 Pres$ and ~30 SAC$. Got one Canada 1867-1992 dollar coin, a William McKinley Pres$ NIFC and 5 of the SAC native American theme coins.

The Sac I spent on lunch looked just like the one in the bottom right corner; completely brown and nasty. So you can probably guess why I was eager to spend it

Picked up 3 rolls today. 1 was all 2000 p and mostly in pretty good condition. Any reason to keep them? Is there any varieties to look for?

Clad coins become brown like this when they've been buried for awhile; likely found by a metal detectorist.
