Keeping with the movie theme... put it under a rock that has no place being in the middle of a field... or something along those lines.

Seriously, the hole above the date sounds good to me. Actually a few holes far removed from the date. This is a great candidate as a teaching aid. Do not destroy it. Send it to bobby131313 and pat yourself on the back for benefiting your fellow collectors. At least you did not buy it as a '14-D.
OR, to be frivolous,
"Coppa! Tellz yah, I didn't do it. Not my fault! Fat Tony's thug worked me over. I'z innocent, tellz yah ... INNOCENT!"

A marriage of image and text: Time to go play Yahtzee. Too much time in the CCF and I get a bit silly!

Update: The coin has been shipped out to Bobby. So help me God, if I see one topless photo on the Net, I'll never send you another coin.

Judging by the wire rim and eroded devices, the whole coin was subjected to an acid bath to hide the doctoring and impart a consistent surface to the whole coin.

I hope you instructed Bobby to destroy it after he's finished.

BadThad,
I would rather he send it back to me. I want to have all the fun and then it will give me another excuse to start a new thread. I may just have to put a .45 round through it with a vintage WWI Colt Army .45 M1911. That would be so cool.

A shot through the eyes? NICE! Look, if your example prevents a single new member on the CCF from making a mistake, you will have done a tremendous service to us all. Just keep a steady aim ... and SHOOT! All that I can do is to throw a few coins on the floor and say, "These are not good." THEN, I present a single coin, held over a towel for protection, and say,
"This is a special coin. You may hold it, carefully, over a towel. If it hits the table, you have just wiped out 20 percent of its value.
That gets my sister's attention quickly! [She is SO good to allow me to manage the family's coins.]

If you manage to actually hit it with the .45, I hope you can recover it, because I would love to see the result. You need to at least video it when you do it.

smokeriderdon, What do you mean by 'if I hit it?' If I miss, I'll just shoot it one more time....or one more time.....or one more time. The magazine holds 7 rounds and the coin won't be shooting back. I will see if I can record the event. I should have little to no problem doing this project. It's editing and posting that will stump me. Have tripod will travel.
