IMHO whatever happened to this coin occurred in the wild after it left the mint ... I do not know of any mint process that could cause this.

This is not a Cud ... I'm going PMD.

That's an unusual shape for a Cud. The darkening around the blob suggests to me heat was involved--some kind of solder?
What's the weight--and how does the reverse look around the opposing Cud (or something else)?

It was fun while it lasted....I was thinking the die had "spider web-like" cracked open....never thought heat. It is a little darker around the portrait!

Or maybe a 'Bubble Gas Error'.

Planchet Errors > Alloy errors > Gas Bubbles > Intact "Occluded"/ Ruptured.
