Commodus, 175-177-192 AD, with his head in the lion-skin headdress of Hercules on the obverse and the weapons of Hercules on the reverse.  Denarius. 19-17 mm. Struck 191 at Rome. RIC 253 L AEL AVREL COMM AVG P FEL HERCVLI ROMANO AVG, bow, club, and quiver with arrows Commodus was the emperor in the movie "Gladiator." In an instance of the saying "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" he identified himself with Hercules and adopted the attributes of Hercules.

I almost forgot my second entry!! Athena with shield and spear! Kingdom of Thrace Lysimachus (c.323-281 BC) Struck 297-281 BC : Lampsakos Mint AR Tetradrachm 31.7 mm @ 15.11g obverse: Diademed deified bust of Alexander The Great with the horns of Ammon. reverse: BASILEWS LYSIMAXOY- Athena seated left hold Nike resting on shield and spear behind. monogram above crescent inner left field. ref: Thompson 61var. (monogram) Muller 396

GOLD- Stevex6-Bosporian Kings, Sauromates I...wish I had it!  SILVER-Dionysos-Thasos Tetradrachm-it would have been gold but its better than mine!  and probably the finest example I have ever seen. Kudos! BRONZE-Augustus1-"Turkoman bronze" The coin is ridiculous and I want it? LEAD- Panticapaion...an awesome bow and arrow! Well done everyone! Whats next!

I would have to say there has been some great looking coins posted..    1.Gold.. Steve's #2 coin, implements of battle or when you need to cut up some of those beef coins..   2. Martin's Florian, very nice, love the shield and spear..  .. 3. jw's Caracalla coin, looks like Mars is ready for war..  nice job, thanks DVC for hosting...

Gold => augustus1 coin #1 (my good buddy "PAN" with his bow)
Silver => Dionysos' coin #1 (Thrace Tet => "nice lookin' club"!!)
Bronze => Eddop's coin #1 (Numerian ... with Trampling horse)
SORRY NOTES: Bing, maridvnvm, malamute also had total winners, but I ran out of medals ... actually, you "all" had awesome coins and tables for displaying your wares!!

GOLD - Dionysis - Pamphylia stater - designs which are still in use today in the land of the Manx are really cool to see on romans SILVER -Steve - Roman Republic Janus - thats one full die, mustve taken forever to carve! BRONZE -Malamute - Clavdivs and minerva- what a design.
Honourable mention - Avgvstvs1s Turkish bronze - never seen a coin like it before!
