Hello all! I know by now you must be getting sick of my posts asking for ID's hence I'll make this short and sweet. This is pretty much the same story as the ones I asked for yesterday however these I cannot make head nor tail of these two. All I will say is kudos to whom that can ID these two peculiar little pieces...

Haha! May be I should of worded it differently. You never know that maybe the guy on the coin decided that he would be different and mint his coins with the head the wrong way round...lol

I love the bug eyed king holding a mug of grog.

I know nothing of the origin of these coins, but they are intriguing. The first one is most curious the way it's struck on a much larger flan. I wonder if that was a mint error or intentional. At any rate thanks for showing them to us. I hope someone can identify them.

Its Byzantine, Bulgarian, or something else Byzantine-inspired. I don't really know anymore than this...

Dont worry about it, IDing these things is by far the most interesting part of the hobby for most of the people here.

I cant really make anything out on the first coin, a Byzantine expert required I think

After careful scrutiny I personally would question its authenticity as the centre symbol should be in-line with A and K however this one isn't. I cannot find an example which matches this.

Well they do seem to have sold for the $100 mark in worse condition, some others (cheaper) here:

Of course our friend Ilya is selling a few 'highprice' examples:

[eBayItem]320632188910[/eBayItem]

Also a couple of poorer ones on the Bay:

[eBayItem]140890915549[/eBayItem]

I'm going to try and send you a PM 123.

Remember, lots of different dies all hand cut. I cant say yes or no authenticity wise with these, know little about them.

I did look at the seller though, seems OK, his BIN prices are also not too bad, certainly for some of his collections of coins. Quick glance but I didn't see anything in his shop that would put me off.

The second coin is indeed Manuel I Comnenus and is Sear #1977, I see nothing wrong with it being legit. The first one is going to be a bit harder to ID. It's a clipped trachy which are seen mostly from 1204 to 1261 the time of the Latin rulers. The legend on this coin is one I can't figure out, I think it might be from region of Bulgaria.
