Selling "junk Silver"

madman12000 Valued Member United States 141 Posts	Posted 04/06/2007 02:15 am I was wondering if any one out there has sold their junk 40% halves to a dealer? I have not, and was curious as to what percentage below melt most of them pay. I have been waiting for the value of a 40%er to go above 2 bucks, but I want to be able to get at least 2 dollars for it.I have well over a hundred halves, and was thinking that it might be time to open a new savings account... Susanlynn9 Forum Mom United States 5877 Posts	Posted 04/06/2007 5:47 pm Sorry, but I don't think you're going to see $2 each for the 40% silver. As a dealer, I would only pay 75% of melt for resale. Figuring spot price at $13.65, melt would be $2.02 per coin. The only way you may be able to get full melt for them is to sell them in rolls on ebay. Report this Post to the Staff
