I know I should have posted this in the do you search rolls but thought it need it own post. OK I went to the bank on Monday after I got paid and cashed half my check to put into the other bank account. I decide to get take 100 out of it and get 10 rolls of halves. I was very disappointed with them. I have sea ch close to 20-30 roll in the last month. I have only found two I need for my Kennedy half set. SO I took the rolls back to my bank. after talking to the teller for a few minutes of them finding out why I like to search rolls and if I get anything good. anyways I told them why and got my cash. I took them back to the bank I typical get all my rolls from. I knew I could take them back there since I bought all they had the week before. I was starting to wonder is it really worth searching rolls since I am having trouble find anything good. But now to the good part of my story. I decided to go to a F&M bank close to home and get another 10 rolls. so I just finished looking through them. they were some good rolls. first I noticed that one roll was written on 1976 BU Roll. but after searching the rolls I am pretty sure some of these rolls must have belong to a collector. here is a list of what I go that was good. - 1966 40% - 1 2002D, 1 2002P - 3 2003D, 3 2003P - 2 2004D, 2 2004P - 1 2005D, 1 2005P 10 Proof halves -1971s -1972s -1973s -1974s -1976s -1977s -1980s -1981s -1982s -2005s plus 2 Canadian -1961 -1964 there you go I would say these rolls were very good. now I need to go back to the bank tomorrow and see if they have more. Also have to decide now if I am going to have to start a proof Kennedy set since I now have 10 of them. if I don't they will be going up for sell or trade soon.

Good find. I've been searching rolls of halves every weekend and doing OK...not near as lucky as you were. The last batch I went through was a nice surprise. I found a 40% silver in the first roll and a 1951-S Franklin half in the third roll. I didn't expect to see the Franklin, but since I needed one for my type set....I was happy

I've searched about $500 worth of half dollar rolls and average about 1 40% silver a roll. I've also found a few 90%'s and 1 walking liberty (not in great shape). I couldn't believe it. Since I'm fairly new to coin collecting I did some research and heard about the proof halves. I rechecked all I had and found a 2001S & a 1997S. It's been about a year but the feeling of finding those is still awesome!

Great find! Now you will never stop searching rolls. I have never had such good luck, maybe that is why I don't do a lot of roll searching anymore...guess I should give it another shot! I had a friend years ago searching rolls of pennies and found a 5$ gold piece (back in the 60's)!

so these proofs? Since they are in circulated rolls, does that mean they might be banged up? My bro got me $200 in halves for me when we meet up this weekend, I'm excited!

I'll do my best to post pictures of my S halves. I've never tried to take pictures of my coins but this might be a good chance to learn. I don't have a scanner so I will try to take a picture with my digital camera tomorrow.

I did take pictures of both coins tonight. I still have to figure out how to get them on here. You would have viewed them if I could have figured it out. I'll try again tomorrow.

I would guess the rolls I got here returned to the bank by someones spouse that the other had passedaway or someone stoped collecting. becuase I also found 2003-2005 in there which is very hard to find. but about 8 of the half I would say had a deep cameo look they were the finsh was very sharp and shiny. and the other two were preaty dole looking. I ma sorry the ones I got I can not post picture of since I gave then to my boss at work for a good price. I sold them for 1.00 a piece whick I might of got alittle more but I alway sell stuff to him for cheaper since I am still working on him to start collecting. he is just a someone who buy a item here or there that intersest him or might be a good investment in the future. I also had to sell them to break even on my rolls. I had 100.00 in halves and my wife said I had to return 100. to the bank since I was just seaching for some weekend fun. so I need to make 5 more dollars to replace the ones that went itno my album or used for trade.
I hope to be able to get a some more roll in a few weeks. the only problem is I got all the rolls from my many back I like to get them from. so I hope they will have some new ones by then. if not I my get a box of nickels and do them just to make a list of my finds. but I like halves since I no if I get a 40% I cna take it to the local dealer and get 1.50 for it right then or 4-5 dollar for a 90% so who nows.
Have fun thomas_z71 searching those rolls. don't give up if on the first 200 you don't find silver start a set or Kennedy if you haven't already and get more rolls. I have search close to $1000 in halves before I got this good of a rolls. the last one I found were 3 rolls of 40% silver rolls. so don't get doen if you don't find anything your fisrt tiem.

That's fine. Good luck. What you can do is upload them to a site like photobucket or so and copy the url link. Good luck, and take care. Phoenix

Got another 5 rolls of halves from a different bank, in the first roll found a 73 D that has a double image of "half dollar" on the reverse side. It appears to be a double die slightly shifted to the left allowing for the right side of each letter to appear underneath. Tried to take photos and scan but camera doesn't have a macro setting, will borrow on Tues and post a pic, will also list on error site to see what I can find out about it. I am not familar with these sort of things so I don't know how common this is.
