Looking-For-Opinions-On-This-1877-IHC

I'm thinking about purchasing this coin. It's raw and on ebay. I'm looking for opinions on originality, appeal, and value. It has a 14 day return and the seller is solid. I confident the coin is good, the fonts and diagnostics are there. It has that funny 2 tone brown which I've seen on some original IHC's in the past.
Just wanted to have you guys take a look for overall opinions and reality check.
Thank you-Steve

Even with the obv rim weakness, I would grade this at G4 with original surfaces. The pic is a little too light, but I think that is the lighting. Greysheet lists bid at $650 for this coin in Good.

I think it is closer to VG8. Probably an old wipe. Likely much darker in hand.

I just increased my zoom level to 600% to compare the diagnostics of your coin to a genuine one listed in "Bill Fivaz's Counterfeit Detection Guide" (2001 - pocket size) and it looks like you have a genuine 1877 IHC, and for grading I would suggest the PCGS online Photo Grade and compare yours to theirs (it's atleast a good, and may reach VG)...

Another look at "LIBERTY" and (IMHO) this will not grade above a G6, in the VG grades you need atleast 3 visible letters in Liberty.

I would argue weak strike. Feather detail is more important (imo) than the technicality, is that a word?, of three letters in liberty. Although a TPG likely would call it G6 I, personally, like it at VG.

It's a very nice looking coin. I would venture a guess at G-6, but no lower.

I think this one would get a VG-8 from the TPG's.

When I mentioned 3 letters in LIBERTY, it was because every coin grading book I have had from the 1960's onward had listed this as a requirement for a very good grade...

This was well before TPG services entered the picture, and if grading standards have changed, I plead ignorant for NOT keeping up with the times.

Nice, I'd say it could hit VG & no lower than G-6. Let us know if you buy it!

The 7's and reverse N's diagnostically, are correct therefore, genuine.
Overall eye appeal is good, looks to be problem free.
I think it would pull a VG8.

Looks good to me. I would say VG8, nice detail overall, but I don't like the lack of full rims. Looks like an old cleaning, but still attractive.

Broken-coin, I appreciate the effort checking this one out.
Dave vermontensium, thanks for chiming in, I was hoping you'd take a look
Dave Zerbato, I may hold out for a full rimed coin, if only I wasn't so impetuous.

It seems as though the next step up will run about 1k and if I get a VG coin I'll be that much
closer to the '09s, which is next. I'm on the fence, do I go for this, or a coin like this, or keep saving.
The decision is killing me.

Here's one. Appears to have full rims from what I can tell.
