got a very rough large coin in a uncleaned lot, can't figure it out.

the obverse (i assume) seems to show a female head facing right...mabye some lettering up at 10 o'cock.

Anyone-Know-What-This-Is?

the reverse seems to show a pyre or alter, looks like a little guy is standing on each side, can't tell whats going on on top, fire? I thought it may be the base of a chair instead of a altar but that just doesn't seem right.

shown with u.s. penny for scale...

Anyone-Know-What-This-Is?

can make out a S C below the altar, and the only letter I can make out other than that is a "S" at 4 o'clock.

also pretty darn thick (and heavy)...

Anyone-Know-What-This-Is?

can find similar coins, but no exact match...any ideas?

well, I was wrong, it is a throne. I'm thinking now this may be some type of old cast fake of a aureus, look at this faustina ii..

Anyone-Know-What-This-Is?

More likely Lucilla. I'll have a look to see if I can further ID it.

Sorry. I've been late to most discussions the past few days. Busy at home with other things. Besides, when I talk to myself, I know I'm talking to the most intelligent and interesting person I know.

Cool find chrsmat

I looked at this last night and it was one of those that I was certain I'd seen before but could not for the life of me remember what it was, hate it when that happens
