How about a 10oz (or any size) copper penny made from actual melted copper pennies? or as Dooby Rak already said, an actual 1:1 ~6g gold penny.

I believe that the reclamation of precious metals by the RCM is done by a third party company so minting from melted pennies is unlikely but in my thinking, it's irrelevant. I don't really care that it's melted pennies making up the coin, but I would like to see an commemorative COPPER penny.

I don't care what it is, I just hope if it goes on sale in February, that it actually ships before 2014........

massive 2.012 kilo copper penny would be nice, as mentioned with hopefully a 2013 delivery date depending on the type of box of course.

Honestly, I hope it isn't another gold penny because it would devalue the 1/25oz one (no longer the only gold penny) and would be pretty high on the price range. The silver pennies have also been covered quite thoroughly so I suspect it will be a copper product. Either 1) a brand new product (hopefully a huge copper penny) in the $100-$150 range or 2) a special packaging (wooden box) for the last day(s) of issue.

Didn't the RCM claim last year that they were done with last penny tributes? Since they describe this as "an exciting new collector's item from the Mint to commemorate Canada's one-cent coin. ", this perhaps indicates: (1) Some new yearly one cent collector coin(s). They couldn't have possibly missed the excitement around the silver penny. So a yearly dated silver penny would be one guess. Perhaps with a fine gold version available too. (2) A set of 19xx-2012 one cent in the original design, dimension and composition (1908, 1911, 1920 small, 1937 and 1967) making a type set commemorative (note no 2012, so it isn't a last penny set)

Instead of collector coins, I guess it is a collector card (free of charge) with a hundred or so slots, one for each year. A way to encourage people to collect circulation coins.

Not too sure if the collector card would be a good idea unless it was for coins from today onwards. If the start date was before their metal recollection program it'd encourage people to hold onto old coins and the recollection program won't be as successful. I really hope it's a copper product. A nice heavy penny made from solid copper would be nice!

Three one ounce pennies. 1 proof, 1 specimen, 1 BU
Don't think that is the case but I can always wish!

So I noticed that the 2013 Specimen and Proof sets do not have the penny in them. Why not? When was the last time you used a 50 cents to purchase something? Or a silver dollar... Would have been nice to continue the penny - at least in the Proof sets...
