Double...... then how would you explain this 280935378544

95% of all his coins are toned and many with the same colors as my coin ? so you would say all his coins are AT also... I always thought that silver turned dark until I started to see toned coins..and I have seen thousands and they always have different looks..As for colors burnt orange seemd to ba a natural color as in your 1959 dime MS 65.. Look into the area around his nose you will see the same color..

Either way ICCS seemed to think it was OK and so do countless others.. I really think it is and I quote myself " TRUE BEAUTY IF YOU LOVE TONING "

Personally, I have some hesitation with this coin (280935378544).

I'm sitting on the fence with this one but I'm definitely leaning towards the AT side.

Here's one I have that I know is natural, but does resemble the 1945 half (but not entirely).

So yours is natural because ? the colors are not as vibrant or because you owned all those years it took to tone and you watched it do so ? pulling your leg bud.... Seriously though the colors are the same just not as bright

If you have a coin toning in an album for 20 years, it's definitely not artificial toning.

I'm talking about the toning that takes weeks to a few months or perhaps even a few minutes over the stove (I've heard stories).

I know the coins you're referring to and I have wondered the past year, looking at all his high grade, strongly coloured and very similar-looking coins.

It does make me wonder if they are AT or perhaps they were originally toned and they have been 'helped' along (enhanced slightly) with additional ATing.

I am positive that if they are AT, they would still get graded at ICCS.

I didn't answer your question about my coin.

I purchased this coin from Bob Armstrong about 6 years ago.

I have not done anything to it to change its colour.

I believe its colour is natural in origin and I also believe the 'market' would accept this colour to be natural also.

The 1959 dollar, the 1945 half I'm not so sure if the 'market' would accept as natural.

I have seen many AT coins but they usually all look Identicle..as in Rainbow toned, same toning pattern on every coin... and of course others that are very easy to tell...circular patterns of solid colors AT ....

But this coin I have came from a large collection that I purchased from an older gent in his 80's and he had a huge amount of toned beauties... more coins than I could afford to buy....

you can AT silver in just about any somewhat controlled pattern you want, in seconds. I would be suspect of anyone who has dozens upon dozens of these things for sale at any given time.

natural toning looks... well... natural.

explosive nuclear rainbow... meh, not so much.
