Quote: China will NOT stop buying our debt. Japan will NOT stop buying our debt. China already has reduced their over all US debt and with the recent elections in Japan they appear to be heading towards doing the same. Here's a yearly chart of the holdings of the 2 from last Sept. http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/bizchi...15826591.htm

Sorry but China will never reduce their holdings of US T-Bills to a point where they say "we dont want US debt anymore". These holdings fluctuate as they rebalance with other currencies. This is a nonevent and happens all the time. Nor will Japan. in fact you are wrong in saying Japan has reduced their holdings, in fact, Japan recently passed up China for holding and increasing their holdings of US debt.
Japan and China will always buy US debt, no one and nothing can change that.
But that's the beauty, they will buy the debt, AND they will also be buyers of PMs, so how can anyone lose :D

Quote: Again, China will NEVER EVER be a world super power. Which is the same thing that they said about us 200 years ago, heck 100 years ago. For all intensive purposes they already are a superpower, we back down to them as much as they back down to us. Quote: Japan and China will always buy US debt, no one and nothing can change that. Theres nothing threatening them buying it now, but again saying always is just simple not true. The US wont even always exist much less always have our debt be bought. I get your premise that its not the great danger at the moment its hyped up to be which is true for now, but history will disagree with the notion that nothing will ever change. Every society in the history of the world has collapsed under its own weight, without significant changes we will be no different

China is not a world super power and never will be. simple :D World markets do not even equate china as a super power, nor Japan. Neither qualify.
However, China's elite and wealthy will continue to buy gold and silver and that will never go away. I wouldn't doubt that as prices dips, the china elite will buy and add more.
in closing- Many countries have tried, but none can rival the might, the strength and the dominance that the USA has, and will always have. China knows they cannot be a world super power. China is too worried about keeping their people busy before they can even start to dream about being a world super power lol

Quote: World markets do not even equate china as a super power World markets are based on chinese products. Markets look poorly on most of their companies because of book cooking and corruption. Individually they are risky investments, but as a collective whole their production is one of the driving forces in the world. Just look around your house and see how many things would be gone without Chinese production which by the way would cripple Apple. Quote: Many countries have tried, but none can rival the might, the strength and the dominance that the USA has, and will always have To each their own but its just not true. Superpowers have and always will change. No country is bullet proof and its that feeling that they are that leads to political decisions that bring the end of the country. The Romans, the Brits, Napeolean, Catherine the Great, the USSR, Japan, Mongolians ect all thought the same thing and none of them are superpowers today and some of those countries are barely relevant on the world scale.

GoThunder, this really puts things into perspective. People get lost in the zeros when talking in about billions, trillions, etc. Quote: US debt scaled down to a family size financial picture:

China is not a super power and never will be one. Really, its simple to understand :D
Now, will the elite of china buy gold and silver. For sure they will. I can see them backing up the truck as prices drop.
Finally, if one thinks China matters to the world, well, then clearly one isn't involved in world markets, because I hate to break it to everyone but China has plenty of competition. In fact, China is a has been story. Yet another reason why it cant and wont ever be a world super power lol.

Yes, I believe China will never ever be a world super power.
I do think the chinese elite will continue tho to be big buyers of gold and silver.
But China is not a world super now, nor will they ever be one. They cant be, theres no way they can do it.
However, I dont want this thread getting out of where it started... which is, what happens to gold Gold and Silver for now appear as they are headed lower.

China has a $6T economy now and, because they're socialist, will continue to grow at double the rate we do.
The Chinese economy will surpass ours. They will be a super-power very soon. About that, there is no question.

Yup, your beliefs are completely unfounded. Keep living in your American bubble. Hee-haw! For all of the human rights violations in China, does the USA ever get in their face about it? No, because they don't have the might or the gumption or the heart. (Only going to war over oil, it's sickening and unhuman/soulless) The USA relies on them to make all of their products and there's no way you can stand up to over a billion people in suffering, in need of a reason to fight for a better life - too many problems in your own country to care about anybody else. Don't ever fight a man on his own turf because you will lose everything you have. What's the obsession with being a superpower anyways? Who really cares besides weak snakes....
Getting back to gold. Suppose the Chiense elite do buy bullion. Who's going to have all the money when the dollar is worth even less than it is now.
